Bathore, Tirana – 11 November 2022 – In a heartwarming encounter of generosity and music, the kids at Global Care Albania (GCA) received a special gift from across the seas. Dave and John Sumner, brothers from Exeter, England, who run the renowned Christian charity, Guitar Aid, paid a visit to GCA in Albania. Guitar Aid, with its mission to support churches and missions worldwide by donating musical instruments, has been making harmonious waves since 1990.
During their visit, Dave and John met with GCA Director Evis Stafa and the staff of the New Day Center, located in Bathore, just outside Tirana. The New Day Center plays a crucial role in providing a safe space for neglected children and abused women in a challenging environment.
Moved by the determination and spirit of those they met, the Sumner brothers decided to make a meaningful contribution. They handed over a brand-new guitar to the Center as a symbol of their commitment to this noble cause.
The moment was heartfelt as the guitar found its place among the Center’s resources. It wasn’t just about music; it represented a universal language of hope and healing. It was a tangible reminder of the love that knows no boundaries and the unity that music can bring.
But their visit was more than a presentation. Dave and John, both experienced musicians, joined in an impromptu jam session with the children at the Center. Laughter and melodies filled the air as they strummed and sang together, showing how music can build bridges and create connections.
The joyful atmosphere continued as the children and the Sumner brothers danced and celebrated the gift of music. For a brief moment, worries faded, and the sounds of laughter and music filled the New Day Center.
Dave and John Sumner’s visit served as a heartwarming reminder that acts of kindness can make a significant impact, even from afar. Through Guitar Aid, they’ve been spreading the love of God across communities worldwide for over three decades. Now, in the hills of Bathore, Tirana, their music has found new voices and hearts to touch.
In the end, it’s not just about the guitar they left behind. It’s about the compassion and hope that continue to resonate in the lives of the children and women at GCA’s New Day Center. It’s a testament to the belief that music has the power to heal, unite, and inspire. Thanks to Dave and John Sumner, the melodies of love and care continue to play on in the hearts of those they’ve reached in Albania.
Our staff and kids are very thankful to this special gift from Guitar Aid.
