The program supports 3-6 year old children from vulnerable families in the Kamza area. They have a hard upbringing against a background of poverty, backward mentality, social barriers and domestic violence. We focus on a value-based growth in order to keep them out of trouble and away from any criminal activities in the streets of Bathore.
We help over fifty 7-14 year old disabled kids with autism, dyslexia, attention disorders and hyperactivity thanks to our practical learning methodology, specifically tailored games and social activities. Our goal is to bring out the best in each kid by using their inner mental & spiritual strength in order to be better equipped when facing the outside world.
Physiotherapy, speech therapy and early intervention are provided in our community center for over 65 children with mental and physical disabilities. Special attention is given to home programs and training mothers in parenting kids with special needs. Our work is vital in this field given the poor healthcare provisions by the national Albanian health system.
While we focus on kids, we also work hard to mentor mothers and young women in the area, as they are the backbone of their families. Through personal relationships, home visits, mentoring & training programs and other interactions, we seek to strengthen the role of women in the community, inside and outside their home. This is crucial when considering the high levels of domestic violence in the area.
We mentor over 20 teenagers through group meetings & discussions, motivating them to live a purposeful life of faith, while building up on their strengths to grow into responsible citizens.
Recreational, educational and social activities organized for over 120 kids every week during the summer months. We ensure that kids spend their summers away from trouble in a qualitative & safe environment.
We serve the Roma & Egyptian communities along the 'River Bank' area, by directing their kids towards a path of education and away from a life of slums, trash bin collections and early forced marriages.
We work continuously with local and central government in order to make sure the Bathore community gets all necessary attention and that children & women are at the center of policymaking and legislation.
WHY WHAT WE DO MATTERS
We are passionate and unapologetic advocates for the welfare of neglected kids and abused women. Our “Ditë e Re” Community Center (New Day) is a place to learn, interact and grow in a safe environment. We provide meaningful guidance and help children and teenagers start their life journey off on the right path, away from violence, abuse and neglect. Our goal is to prepare the kids by building their academic skills while supporting disabled kids through mental, speech and physical therapy. Our dedicated programs address unique needs of each child in our centre, providing a healthy start in their life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. For 23 years, our team has been working hard to transform the future of children, their families and an entire community in Bathore, Kamez.
